Chapel win the Play-offs
(13.04.09)With teams missing players due to the play-offs being played on Easter Sunday, the tournament was potentially open to any of the 4 teams competing.
In the first of the semi-finals Chapel defeated a much changed Edinburgh team 7-2 in a good competitive game in which Edinburgh found it tough to take their chances to score.
The second semi-final was very much an upset with league champions Aberdeen, albeit missing a few players, failing to find the net in a 3-0 loss to Dundee.
The final saw Chapel defeat Dundee 8-3 to add to their Winter Cup success earlier in the season. In the 3rd place match Aberdeen defeated Edinburgh for the fourth time in 2009.
The plate trophy was taken by Glenrothes as they defeated Balwearie Lightning easily before coming away with a victory in a sterner challenge from Thunder.

Play-offs Line-up
(16.03.09)The inaugrual Northern League Play-offs will be held on the 12th April. 1st will play 4th and 2nd will play 3rd in the semi-finals, before the winners play each other in the final. This year, the play-offs will not decide the league championship, but will instead be used as the format for the Scottish Cup.
The semi-finals will be Aberdeen v Dundee and Chapel v Edinburgh.
To ensure all teams get to play on the day, there will be a plate tournament featuring the 5th-7th placed teams in a round-robin style league.
Aberdeen Oilers Crowned League Champions
(14.03.09)Aberdeen Oilers sealed their first Northern League Championships with final day victories over Thunder, Edinburgh and Lightning.
In a tense day's floorball a nervous Aberdeen side ground out wins against Thunder and Edinburgh to keep the pressure on Chapel, with the Fife side needing Aberdeen to slip up in any one of their three games to have a chance of the title.
Chapel did what they had to do, by beating Lightning and Thunder, but with Aberdeen's easy vistory against Lightning in the last match of the day, any hope Chapel had of retaining the title slipped away.
In the other matches, Glenrothes and Dundee won their early matches, against Edinburgh and Lighting respectively, to set up a show-down match to decide 4th place and the final play-off spot. Dundee came out victorious with a good 7-4 victory over the former champions.
The Balwearie teams had a tough day, with both playing Aberdeen and Chapel, althought Thunder did manage to put up a good fight in both their games.
Next stop, the play-offs.
Tournament date 5 - Final League Matches
(03.03.09)Sunday 8th March sees the final date in the league calendar. Nearly all the positions are still up for grabs.
In terms of the title, Chapel and Aberdeen are the only teams with a realistic chance. Chapel lead the table by one point, however Aberdeen perhaps have the edge with their game in hand, but face a tough game against an Edinburgh team with nothing to lose as they cannot be caught in 3rd place.
4th, 5th and 6th place will be fought out between Thunder, Glenrothes and Dundee. Thunder face a difficult task in playing both teams vying for the title, so the Glenrothes vs Dundee game late in the day could potentially prove decicive in the hunt for the final play-off spot.
At the foot of the table, Lightning will be hoping to cause an upset as they too face the two title-chasing sides.
We're certainly in for an exciting and tense day's floorball.
